What makes it special:
Many Americans call the bison for buffalo, which is a common mistake, usually not made by hunters, but we wouldn’t want anyone buying the wrong hunt.
We recommend a .375 H&H. It is accurate and most hunters can shoot it with relative ease.

Also known as The Black Death or The Widow Maker, this species is considered the most dangerous of the Big 5, every year they kill more than 200 people. The African buffalo is a large bovine, but it’s not related to domestic cow in any way. The Horns are carried by both genders and are very characteristic, but it is only the bull that has a boss, which is the heavy part of the horn that rests on the animal’s head. Even a rifle bullet cannot always penetrate this. It takes between five and six years for the young bull’s horns and boss to fully form.
The cape buffalo hunting, are usually hunted on foot, picking up and following fresh spoor at waterholes or across roads. Older bulls often separate from the herds and form small bachelor groups and are then referred to as “Dagga boys” (Mud boys).
When pursued and wounded they will stare in your direction before finally running off uttering grunts. They charge head-on and are difficult to stop at short range. Despite their size they are extremely quick and cunning at camouflage, as they remain absolutely still until one is right upon them.
It’s very important to get a well-placed shot. However sometimes even with a well-placed initial shot, as soon as it is wounded and its adrenalin is flowing, it can be incredibly difficult to bring down. To prepare for this, try to focus on shot placement as well as choice of rifle and bullets, and trust the judgment of your Professional Hunter.
